Today I had fun being an observer, watching therapy dog Lilo do her job as a Bright Spot Canine Reading Buddy. Without a dog of my own in hand, I was able to bring my camera and take some photos of the children reading to Lilo.
Today, the Preschoolers came to the library with books they had made themselves to read their Canine Reading Buddy. The children took turns proudly reading their books to the dog. It was very cute to watch how carefully the children would position their books so that Lilo would get a good look at the illustrations they had drawn.
Therapy dog Lilo did a perfect job of being a good listener. Sometimes she closed her eyes to listen very hard. Other times she looked right into the page. The group consists of seven Preschoolers, making it possible for each child to sit right next to Lilo and read.
