I have to admit… I love my morning coffee. Not just one cup, but several, to start the day. A good strong roast – half a cup, then filled to the brim with 2% milk (I keep telling myself that each cup is really just half a cup of coffee).
Well, I have found that our new canine family member Lily shares my love for coffee. Oh yes! And, she knows when a cup is full of the dark, luscious brew and when it’s not. If a cup is full of just milk or water, perhaps, she’s not interested. Yes – she’s definitely a coffee-lover like me!
I’ve finally learned to guard my precious cup full of java. It took three times of Lily slurping it down before I finally won’t leave the kitchen without sticking my cup on top of the refrigerator as a safeguard. Yesterday, I had set the morning newspaper on the table to read while savoring the last cup from the pot… but, first I ran upstairs to get something quickly. BIG mistake… I ran down the stairs to the slurp, slurp, slurping sounds of Lily enjoying that last cup. That did it, Lily girl, I’ve finally learned!
I must admit, though, she’s such a sweetheart, I’m tempted to set out a cup for her so we can sit, sip, and enjoy it together!
