Dogs are like people. No two are alike. They all have their own special personality. Today was one of those bleak, dismal days we have in late October. The maple, beech, and oak trees, which have been a fiery blaze of reds, golds, and oranges standing in sharp contrast against the dark green pines, are now shades of deep maroon, muted bronze, and brown, adding to the dreary atmosphere of the grey skies.
In response to these conditions, Lily chose to sleep away the day in English Setter cat-like mode. She was totally relaxed, lounging on her favorite spot – the family room couch. Her peaceful demeanor was contagious. In sharp contrast, Violet, Sunny Goodwin’s Australian Labradoodle, was her happy-go-lucky self. I couldn’t help but smile and laugh out loud when looking at her. Both dogs, well, all four dogs, that is (James and Annie, our other two English Setters snoozed in quiet repose, as well, adding to the feeling of calm), provided their own brand of comfort and companionship as I worked on my book, answered emails and phone messages, and worked through my schedule for the day. Thanks, my special friends…
