Once King signed in and received hugs from the office secretaries, he headed down the corridor to report to his first classroom. More hugs, some kisses and petting when he entered the room, then King headed to his reading corner and settled in waiting for his first reader to arrive.
His second visit to Hilltown Charter School this week, King feels so much at home in this cozy school environment. Originally an old mill built in 1875, the interior is loaded with old brickwork and beams. King’s reading area is in a small alcove accessed through an old brick archway.
When each student comes to the area to read one-on-one with their beloved Bright Spot Reading Buddy King, he cozies-in close leaning his head on the reader’s arm, or his shoulder, posed to listen closely to the day’s reading choices, well positioned to view the illustrations, too.
Animal facts, animal stories – A Stray Dog, Puppy’s First Picnic, and a mystery that included a dog were among the books read to King today. His readers always choose books they think King will enjoy. He shows his appreciation by being a good listener!
