When therapy dog Lily entered the library today, the first graders were sitting in a circle listening to Mrs. Rousseau, the librarian, give a lesson. Once they spotted Lily, they all jumped up and surrounded their Reading Buddy. Oh, how happy Lily was! She radiated happiness as the children greeted her with hugs and kisses.
Lily proceeded to the reading area at the far corner of the room and awaited her readers. Today, three first graders, then three second graders had a chance to read their books. Lily usually as two readers per grade, but due to some class cancellations, several readers need to have make-up time. Lily loved having extra readers and listened intently to all of them as they each read their books. Mrs. Rousseau emailed me later today to tell me that the children wrote some stories and drew pictures of Lily. Can’t wait to see them next week.
