Therapy dog Lilo performed her job perfectly today as she listened to third graders at The Westhampton Elementary School read the books they had selected and practiced for their special reading time with their Reading Buddy. Lilo spent a little time with one of the teachers, as well. Therapy dogs enjoy being petted by everyone they encounter.
The pre-school group was entering the library as the third graders were leaving. Lilo was invited to stay. She had a good time meeting this group. Karen Rousseau, the librarian, and the pre-school teacher are thinking about having Lilo stay on every week to spend time with this group of early readers. Each child would have a chance to show Lilo their picture book. Fun for the pre-schoolers – and Lilo, too!
