We were delighted to participate in the Whole Community Preparedness Summit today at UMass in Amherst, Massachusetts. Presenters at the day-long conference included the key agencies involved in emergency response. We had the opportunity to speak about Bright Spot Therapy Dogs and the meaningful way our dogs can be of help during an emergency situation.
We made many contacts with agencies interested in incorporating our Bright Spot Therapy Dogs in emergency response. Our goal is to become part of an emergency response network that will direct our efforts in providing our Bright Spot Therapy Dogs when and where needed during emergency disaster situations.
Five of our Therapy Dog Teams represented Bright Spot at the conference. Three of these teams traveled to Newtown, Connecticut, after the terrible tragedy in December 20012. One of these teams traveled to Boston last month. Many of our dedicated Bright Spot Therapy Dog Teams are interested in developing this new role for our organization.
