Coco is one of our new Bright Spot Therapy Dogs. Her teammate Michelle is the assistant principal at Robert E. Melican Middle School in Northborough, Massachusetts. Michelle and Coco traveled a far distance each Wednesday evening to take our 8-week therapy dog training class in Greenfield, Massachusetts, with our trainer Pam Murphy who runs NB Productions Quality Dog Training. All their hard work paid off. The two make an amazing team!
These days Coco is a true working girl. Every Friday, Coco suits up in her Bright Spot blue therapy dog vest and heads to work with Michelle. Coco wears many hats in her job at Robert E. Melican Middle School. She works with the behavior specialist, the guidance counselor, and the reading teacher bringing comfort to the students in the gentle, non-judgmental, non-threatening way only a dog can provide. Staff are the recipients of Coco’s brand of therapy, as well. On breaks and after school, they get to spend some quality time with sweet, loving Coco.
Coco is now on the school’s website . Michelle sent the link on to me. I know you all will enjoy watching it as much as I did. A typical working day for Coco…
Once or twice a week, to my delight, I receive an email report from Michelle on the wonderful work this special Bright Spot Therapy Dog provides to these children who are most fortunate to have Coco at their school. In a recent email, Michelle wrote, One of our guidance counselors lost one of her dogs last week and when she first came in this morning, she spent some time with Coco, just crying and having a moment. She felt so comforted being with Coco. This is what the work of Bright Spot Therapy Dogs is all about. We are extremely privileged to have Coco and Michelle as members of our organization.
