An estimated 2200 women attended the Bay Path Women’s Leadership Conference held today at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Bright Spot Therapy Dogs is proud to have been invited to attend as an exhibitor.
The theme of the 19th annual conference was Own Your Story. This description comes from the Bay Path College website:
Each of us has a story. We must reflect on what our story is, give voice to it,let it ground us as an individual or company, and then own it. With all of its triumphs and trials, we must embrace our story authentically, honestly, and proudly. Doing so allows us to claim the impact we’ve had on our family, community, and workplace. Every day, we add to our story; we can’t erase what happens, but we can learn to tell it with humor and grace. Our story is unique — it makes us who we are.
This was the perfect theme for Bright Spot. All day long, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., we got to tell our story. Our booth was staffed at all times with two Bright Spot volunteers who had the opportunity to tell conference attendees who we are and what we do. The volunteers talked about their individual visiting experiences and conference attendees talked about the dogs they have. Perhaps they could become therapy dogs, too. Bright Spot volunteers fielded questions about what type of training is needed, where we do our visiting, how old the dog needs to be. Business cards and copies our our Bright Spot annual print publication flew off the table. No matter what profession the conference attendees were in, they saw working with therapy dogs to be something they would enjoy doing, or a relative or friend would enjoy doing.
This was our second time attending the Bay Path Women’s Leadership Conference as a guest of our sponsor Florence Savings Bank. We look forward to hearing from many of the folks we spoke with today.
