Lily and King have been on a bit of a vacation. No work for these two Therapy Dogs this week. It’s school vacation week here in western Massachusetts, so no Reading Buddy work for these two. Once King finished visiting the veterans and their families at the Soldiers Home last Saturday, he hung up his Therapy Dog vest for a week of playtime.
With lots of playtime comes a pair of dirty dogs, plus both Lily and King were in need of a trim. The Therapy Dog vests will be back on, with lots of work to be done this week.
It’s Final Exam time on college campuses. Bright Spot Therapy Dogs will be at Bay Path College, UMass Amherst, and Elms College over the course of the next eight days. To top it off, several Bright Spot Therapy Dogs will be in attendance at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital Mental Health Resource and Educational Fair on May 3rd. Lily and King will be splitting the duties at these upcoming events. They both love participating in our community outreach events where they get to interact with lots and lots of people. They soak up the love and attention they get. It’s hard leaving one of them behind. But, whoever is left is not alone, thankfully. His or her pal Annie is at home to keep them company. Unlike Lily and King, who are friendly, outgoing Therapy Dogs, sweet little Annie is a bit shy and reserved, preferring to stay on home territory.
Lily and King radiated a happy, excited energy as they vied to be first in the tub, then on the table this afternoon. They can tell something is brewing. For these two Therapy Dogs, visiting is a source of great enjoyment. Stay tuned for coverage of these upcoming events, and lots of photos of all the Bright Spots – small, medium, large, and giant – bringing happiness to many over the next several days.
