Violet is very cute, very sweet, and very well-trained. She is an attention-grabber everywhere she goes. Today on our morning walk, we met a couple out walking. They each smiled, said good morning, then just stood there looking at Violet. I could see they had more to say, so Violet and I stopped and walked over to them. They introduced themselves, then the woman said, Your dog is adorable. Her husband added, Is she a Wheaten Terrier? I replied, No, she’s an Australian Labradoodle. From this, a 20 minutes conversation ensued discussing the virtues of the breed.
All the while we spoke, Violet, who had placed herself between the couple in a Sit position, looked up at them with her clown-like expression. They pet her all over. Violet just sat there soaking up all the attention. As the chatting continued, Violet relaxed into a Down position. What a good dog you are, Violet, the woman noted.
Turns out their beloved Wire-Haired Pointer had just passed on. They love dogs and don’t want to be without one. They’re older now, they said. We’re not going to get another Pointer, they went on to explain. Admiring Violet some more, the woman said, What’s the name of the kennel in Haydenville? Berkshire Hills Labradoodles, I informed. I think Violet should carry her own set of business cards in a holder around her neck. She’s quite irresistible! As we departed, Violet came around into Heel position and off we went.
