Have you been thinking about training your dog to be a certified therapy dog? You’ve been hearing and reading about all the wonderful things therapy dogs do for people of all ages in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, mental health facilities, Alzheimer’s units, hospice care, libraries, and more. You think your dog would make a perfect therapy dog. And, you know you would enjoy it, too. Well – now is the time to get started.
Our next Bright Spot Therapy Dog Training Class will run May 31, June 14, and 28. This course is taught in three, 2-hour workshops, Sunday mornings, 10:00-12:00 p.m. and is held at Animal Alliances, with time spent at a nearby nursing home. This enables participants to practice the skills and techniques taught in the course in a real-life setting. When you and your dog have completed the course, you will be well-prepared to take your evaluation and to make meaningful visits as a certified therapy dog team.
Our instructors are Bright Spot volunteers themselves and have years of experience both training dogs and visiting facilities. They are eager to share their knowledge with you in a relaxed, friendly setting. Classes are interactive and lots of fun. We have a few spaces available in this upcoming class. Don’t delay.
