Mud season. Those of us who live in various parts of the United States that don’t stay sunny and warm all year round must go through Mud season… the price we must pay to leave the snow and cold temperatures of Winter behind and usher in the sunshine and warmth, blue skies, green grass, and chirping birds of Spring.
For those of us with dogs, especially more than one, Mud season means paw prints on floors, furniture, the car seat. You name it, the mud seems to be carried everywhere by our beloved canine family members.
Mud season, of course, means lots of baths for Annie, Lily, and King. Normally, the trio stays pretty clean, able to get by with a bath every two weeks. At least for the girls. King gets a quick feather bath [almost] every night, to keep his (male) silky feathering clean and smelling good. So, Mud season baths started today, with Annie going first. As you can see by the expression on Annie’s face in the photo above, she isn’t excited about the prospect of having a bath. Unfortunately for her, she has a lot of white fur that gets dirty very quickly, unlike Lily and King whose color patterns don’t show the dirt as much. Today, Annie took it all in her stride. She needed a trim anyway, so she got the full spa treatment and was a good sport through the whole thing.
Lily and King love brushing, bathing, and getting trimmed. They enjoy the undivided attention they get from me. The longer it takes, the better for these two. It’s always a race to see who gets atop the grooming table first. Usually, it’s King. Today, Lily and King hit the table simultaneously. I let Lily have the honors!
