It’s been a dreary, raw, rainy day here. Fortunately, the temperature has been high enough to cause snow melting. We still have about one foot of snow left that needs some seriously warm weather and sunny skies to completely eliminate it all. It does feel good to see patches of grass here and there. A promise that spring is on the way.
Early this morning, King and I said good-bye to Lily and Annie and headed to the Hilltown Charter School. King’s first reader was waiting for him by his office door. In hand, was the book he had selected to read to King. Albert Einstein, it was. King settled right in, listening intently.
One boy who has been reading to King for two years, entered the office saying, King, let’s cozy up together and I’ll read you a good story. King complied with his wishes, loving every minute.
King met with eight individual readers during his 9:00-11:00 office hours. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed. Each child gently pet King on his head, telling him what a good boy he was. One girl was certain King liked the illustrations in her book. What better way to spend the day then to settle in with a good book and read to King.
