My goal was to get a photo of myself with all four of our dogs in front of our beautiful Christmas tree from Laurie Sanders and Fred Morrison’s Tree Farm on Montague Road in Westhampton (all trees $25 – every one of them gorgeous).
Well that idea was quickly scrapped as my daughter Jeanne and I struggled to position the dogs, each dressed in Christmas attire, and get them to face the camera, not the tree. After all, how hard is it to get four young children to pose for a photo? I remember the days of posing our three young daughters for the annual Christmas card photo…
We decided to divide ranks – first the boys, then the girls. My boys are always much more accommodating than the girls, and this held true for the Christmas tree photo. King was the most into it. He kept his Santa’s helper hat on for quite some time. James, of course, was happy to wear his special red jingle bell collar, but really wasn’t all that happy about leaving the cozy sofa for a photo shoot. But, James is always obliging. Jeanne snapped several shots, in between repositioning the boys and straightening King’s cap, then we switched to the girls.
Annabelle and Lily have minds of their own. They’ll do it if and when they want to. These girls exhibit strong cat-like independence. The Christmas tree was far more interesting to them than looking at the camera for the photo. We got them to turn briefly, then they were done. Enough! The girls had had it. Whether or not the photo looked good, they could care less. I must admit, by this time, Jeanne and I were buckling over from laughter. The entire episode was a lot of laughs and fun. We love our dogs, and the smiles and laughter they bring to our lives.
From our household to yours… May your Christmas be filled with Merriment and Laughter! And, above all, Enjoy Every Minute.
