Sacked out on their beds at the end of the day were three very happy and thoroughly exhausted dogs. Annie, Lily, and King had spent just about every minute of the weekend outside enjoying the warmth and sunshine. The dogs have been such good sports about the long, cold winter we’ve had, that often made outdoor activity impossible. They remained content through it all, happy to lounge about in the house in true English Setter style… always happy as long as they are with their people!
Most of Saturday, they spent out in the back field. It’s still blanketed in snow about 10″ deep, but all three dogs camped out up on their scouting hill mesmerized by the squirrels, birds, oppossum, and other small creatures they silently watched scampering through the woods.
Sunday was our walking day: 2 miles for Annie in the early morning, 3 1/2 miles for King midday around the triangle (the three roads that connect forming a triangle), then Lily ended the day with her 2 mile walk. That brought me in at a total of 7 1/2 miles. I must admit, I was as tired – and content – as they were at day’s end. It felt so good to be outside, taking in the warmth of the sun, knowing that whatever weather we get in the next few weeks will be pushed aside by the coming of Springtime.
