Looking into the Faculty Dining Room in the Mary Dooley College Center at Elms College today, one could easily see that our Bright Spot Therapy Dogs were working their magic – students were enjoying a super-relaxed time! Our Therapy Dog Stress-Relief Event at Elms College had been postponed in February due to inclement weather. It was originally scheduled for Valentine’s Day, which seems appropriate because our friendly, gentle Therapy Dogs spread love wherever they go. Students expressed their disappointment in the cancellation of the event (well – the College was closed, the weather was so bad!). They couldn’t wait for today to arrive – and from all accounts, they weren’t disappointed.
The eight Bright Spot Therapy Dogs in attendance ranged from mini to giant. The smallest being an adorable black-and-tan Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Velvet. The largest being two sweet, docile Great Danes named Lilo and Tucker. The in-between-medium-sized dogs were: a pair of Australian Cobber Dogs (aka Australian Labradoodles) – brothers Owen and Finley, a quiet, laid-back English Setter named Lily, and two mini-bear-like Golden Retrievers named Niles and Caber.
There was plenty of fur to snuggle, hug, and cuddle with, to lounge on the floor with, and get super relaxed. Our college events are always fun for all. Our dogs have a great time and so do our volunteers who really enjoy interacting with the students.
