Hundreds of University of Massachusetts students had fun hanging out with twenty-four Bright Spot Therapy Dogs yesterday in the student union ballroom.
It never fails. The comment we hear the most from students every time we hold one of our popular Therapy Dog Stress-Relief Events on colleges campuses is: This is the best thing the school has ever done for us!
Everyone enjoys these events: the students, the staff, our volunteers, and so do the dogs! In fact, I think the dogs enjoy it most of all. Therapy dogs love their job. They know they are making people happy.
Yesterday’s event at UMass was the first of our Therapy Dog Stress-Relief Events being held on colleges campuses during Final Exams.
On May 2nd, Bright Spot Therapy Dogs will be at Bay Path University.
And, on May 18th, we will hold our last Therapy Dog Stress-Relief Event at Greenfield Community College. This is a new college for us and many of our volunteers have signed up to participate.
We wish we could service more colleges and universities, but since the events are held around exam periods, our pool of volunteers can only handle a limited number.
College administrators have taken note of the therapeutic effect the dogs have on the students and book these special events with Bright Spot 6-12 months in advance to insure a date on our calendar.
