Eleven Bright Spot Therapy Dogs were on hand today at the UMass Student Ballroom for one of our very popular Therapy Dog Stress-Relief Events.
It’s mid-terms time on college campuses and tension is high. It’s the perfect time to take a study break and chill with the Therapy Dogs.
An estimated 800 students came over to the Student Ballroom during the 11:30-2:30 event. One student came in to pet all the Therapy Dogs before his psychology exam and came back to relax with the dogs after he had taken his exam.
Reporters and photographers from the Hampshire Daily Gazette and the Springfield Republic came to cover the event, as well as the reporter for the campus daily newspaper and the campus radio station.
The event was extremely well-organized by April McNally, Community Health and Patient Educator, and student helpers who made sure the dogs and volunteers were well taken care of. The students expressed their delight in having us on campus and thrilled to hear that we will be back on campus April 30th during final exams. The dogs are in heaven being hugged and petted by so many people. And, our volunteers always enjoy covering our college campus stress-relief events. It’s a pleasure to see the dogs making the students so happy. On March 3rd, we return to Bay Path College, our third appearance there, and will be on the campus of Elms College on March 28th.
