Lily and King enjoyed their school vacation, but, boy were they excited to slip into their Bright Spot blue vests and head to their respective schools this week to get back to their job. Just like the students they work with, Lily and King had fun over the holidays. Lots going on with ten family members in the house for a week. They especially loved spending time with our grandkids, three year old Muir and ten month old Pearl.
On Tuesday morning, King headed to his office at Hilltown Charter School in Easthampton, MA, where he holds office hours from 9:00-11:00. During this time, King works with eight different students, one-on-one, for fifteen minute intervals. The students bring books they think King will enjoy listening to. Along with reading, students spend time just relaxing, talking and petting King.
Lily was a little sad when King got suited up and she was being left behind. She loves spending time with her students who shower her with attention. Don’t worry, Lily, I said, it’s your turn in the afternoon. By 12:30, Lily was on her way to Westhampton Elementary School (WES) in Westhampton, MA, where the Reading Buddy Program is conducted in the school library. Lily gets to greet the entire class (both first and second grades) before heading to the special Reading Corner where she listens to lots of fun stories. Gets lots of hugs, too!
Vacations are fun, but this duo loves the job they have been trained to do. It’s nice to be back in routine.
