I woke to gray sky and rain, as predicted. My work schedule for the day was full, and that was fine with the expected weather so bleak.
Well all that changed by 8:30 this morning. Folks living here in western Massachusetts were blessed with an unexpected, magnificent day. Love that it’s November 18th and our weather spiked into the 60’s. Forget the work schedule! James and I headed out the door and took an E-X-T-R-A long walk. He was in his element. What a special guy! Striding out, full-trot ahead of me. Head held high. Tail out straight. Smile on his face. He was moving. Twenty-nine more days, James, I said, ’til your 13th birthday. This guy just keeps improving – healthwise – every day.
It seemed everyone was out walking this morning. The unexpected gift of this jewel-of-a-day had motivated neighbors all along our route to head out for a walk. Who could resist? We stopped to chat with several friends. James taking a respite lying at my feet. One neighbor was out walking her little dog, so James and Stella got to interact, while Sylvia and I chatted, and chatted, and chatted. Suddenly, I remembered that Annie, Lily, and King were at home waiting for breakfast! Time to head back, get to work – but, cut off early for another terrific walk. This time with Annie. After all, how many more days will we have like this?
